- First Step:
- Put quality content on your website that is relevant to the site's title and subject. If you title your website after apples and your content is about oranges, well, you go figure! Why should I visit your site? I need to know about apples! So don't expect links to your site if it appears that you have another agenda other than what the title/subject is about.
- Second Step
- Write articles and get noticed for the work you are doing. Build on your reputation with quality material you have learned and from resources you have found. Writing just for the sake of saying something is not really what is meant here - you have to be genuine and creative! Learn from other articles that have been published and follow the rules for good writing. Most article submission sites have training information that is vital to good penmanship.
- Third Step
- Get involved in Social Marketing and by this we mean using social networks over the Net to get known around the world. Social networks like blogging, forums, Twitter, Facebook, chat rooms, and etc. are only some of the ways you can reach out to people and get yourself known and build a good reputation. Just don't forget that you can do just the opposite as well and build a bad reputation if you don't follow the rules of good behavior. Don't be a jerk! The internet is a 24/7 business and the word gets around fast whether it be good news or bad news. That too is why marketers use the internet to drive traffic because it works year round and on that 24hrs a day and 7 days a week principle. It can work for you or against you!
- Fourth Step
- Advertise your site's content on the major search engines like Google, Yahoo, Bing, and others. Use relevant keywords that match your site's content. Like we said before - don't advertise that you have oranges when your site has only apples! It just won't go over very well with your visitors and you will get bad feedback - which leads to no good back-links. Be honest and upfront about what your site has to offer. Don't be misleading! It's ok to have a mixture of content on your website and advertise about relevant items on there, but try to avoid stepping out of bounds and stretching the truth - your visitors will see right through you!
- Fifth Step
- Build a good rapport with your peers. If your website is for business purposes, then be sure to follow the rules for operating your business on the web. You are on the web to build your business and not to tear down someone else's. Competition is fine and legit, but slander is not! You will not get a good report for stealing, cheating, badmouthing, or for any other dishonest means of propelling your business over someone else's.
- Conclusion
- Learning to build your business and helping others along the way is key to building a good rapport among your fellow peers. You will gain better rankings, back-links, and free advertising by just following a few easy steps. Your reputation depends on it!
